Instructions for waste separation in Austria could look like this:

1. **Organic waste:** Kitchen waste, food leftovers and garden waste belong in the organic waste bin. This includes vegetable scraps, fruit peels, coffee grounds and the like. However, plastic packaging or other non-biodegradable materials are not allowed in.

2. **Paper and cardboard:** Newspapers, magazines, paper packaging and cardboard boxes should be disposed of in the recycling bin. It is important that these materials are dry and not coated (no milk or juice cartons).

3. **Glass:** Glass is collected separately by color: white glass, green glass and brown glass. It is important to ensure that only container glass such as bottles and glasses are disposed of, but not window panes, mirrors or similar.

4. **Plastics and metals:** Packaging made of plastic, metal and composite materials (e.g. beverage cartons) belongs in the yellow bin or yellow bag. These include bottles, cans, yogurt cups and the like.

5. **Residual waste:** Anything that cannot be recycled or falls into the categories mentioned above goes into the residual waste. This includes, but is not limited to, ceramics, diapers, vacuum cleaner bags and dirty packaging.

6. **Hazardous waste:** Batteries, electrical devices, paints, chemicals and medicines must not be disposed of with normal household waste. These must be taken to special collection points.

7. **Use of the containers provided:** It is important that the containers provided in the house or residential complex are used for waste separation according to their labeling. This facilitates the efficient and environmentally friendly disposal and recycling of waste.

These guidelines help to separate waste correctly and thus contribute to environmental protection and resource conservation. Please note that the specific regulations for waste separation may vary depending on the municipality or region in Austria. Please also find out about the applicable regulations locally.
